We are able to provide an ever-increasing number of surgeries at Tullyraine Equine Clinic. We have been investing heavily in facilities, surgical equipment and training in order to meet local surgical demand. With the help of a DAERA grant, obtained in January 2021, we have taken receipt of laser compatible upper airway and gastric endoscopic equipment and a brand new 4k HD arthroscopy/laparoscopy stack! This means minimally invasive surgery for horses is now finally available in Northern Ireland!
Our team has extensive experience and the appropriate facilities to safely perform a broad range of routine and elective surgeries at TEC. We perform surgeries for our own registered clients as well as for clients referred to us by veterinary colleagues. Specialist elective surgeries are performed at Tullyraine Equine Clinic by RCVS and European board-certified Equine Specialists, with whom we collaborate very closely. Having access to these specialists at TEC saves you having to travel your horse huge distances, ensuring their welfare and your convenience. We are not a hospital, which means we do not have overnight 24/7 nursing cover. This puts a small number of surgeries beyond the scope of our team, for example emergency colic surgeries or other intensive care patients. Thanks to our unique collaboration with UCD, we have a direct ‘dial in’ to their hospital - should you wish to have your horse referred there - or we can refer to any of the other hospitals in Southern Ireland, with all of which we have a close relationship.
